Strategic Activator Task Forces for 2021-2023
These task forces were developed to align with the priorities of the Chancellor and are meant to address timely and strategic issues. They allow the Board to have another avenue by which to make an impact.
Strategic Real Estate Planning
The Chancellor has asked the Board to take leadership in addressing specific facility issues on campus. The Board will leverage its influence and relationships to develop new models and alternative strategies, as well as identifying, prioritizing and managing risks.
Workforce/Career Preparation
The Trustees will activate their collective networks to help the university develop a broad range of opportunities for UMKC students (internships, apprenticeships, shadowing, and mentoring). The Board will also help define the soft skills students need as they transition from the university into the professional world.
Community Professional Development
Through TalentLink, UMKC will provide high-quality professional, continuing education opportunities for individuals and corporate employees who want to improve their skillsets to move up in their careers. The Trustees will assist in ensuring the program is marketed to make the greatest impact.
University Brand Enhancement
Working in collaboration with the university, the Board will lend its collective civic influence to strengthen and enhance the university’s brand in the region. This will include identifying and seeking out new partner organizations and vehicles to broaden awareness of UMKC’s strength and successes.
